Chairman's speech First Habit: Good Personality
Character is one of the attributes of good leadership. In fact, it’s probably the most important leadership trait of all. Your character is who you are and what you are made up of; without which you will never make a good leader. That’s why I listed good personality as one of the traits of good leadership. Good personality entails having integrity, charisma, self confidence and a good appearance. No employee, investor or customer will willingly follow a timid leader who lacks good character. The most important thing in your business relationships is your reputation for honesty. If you can genuinely and sincerely fake honesty, you will be a success. Never doubt it.
Second Habit: Definiteness of Decision
One thing with being a leader is that the decision making rests solely on your shoulders and you have to live with the consequences of your decisions. You may have a great business team but they are not going to make the decisions for you; all they are going to do is render advice. To be a good business leader, you must be definite and firm in your decision. You must also be quick in making your calculations and arriving at a conclusion. Before making an important decision, get as much as you can of the best information available and review it carefully, analyze it and draw up worst case scenarios. Add up the plus or minus factors, discuss it with your team and do what your guts tell you to do.
Third Habit: Self Belief
A successful business leader will always believe in yourself. You must have strong faith, although sometimes there will be an aggressive feelings. The self-confidence means the ability to solve problems confidently. Some research shows that the desire to succeed can create and get maximum benefit. It can also stimulate the subconscious mind and release out boundless enthusiasm, energy and wisdom which will help you to get great wealth and career achievement meanwhile.
Fourth Habit: Goal Setting
All successful entrepreneurs share the characteristic of being goal oriented. You have the ability to set clear goals for yourselves. These goals are high and challenging but realistic and attainable. To you, life without goals set and achieved is life wasted.
Fifth Habit: Powerfully Passionate
If there’s one thing that propels successful businessmen forward; it is passion. Successful entrepreneurs are passionate about what you do and that’s why you built a business around what you love to do best. A true leader is passionate about whatever venture you are undertaking. You have to be burning with an idea, or a problem, or a wrong that you want to right. If you’re not passionate enough from the start, you’ll never stick it out. Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from doing whatever excites you. So if you have a passion; believe in it, strive to be the best in it and you will emerge a success.
Sixth Habit: Persistence
Another trait possessed by successful entrepreneurs is persistence. Starting a business is one thing; but sticking to the entrepreneurial process is another. Nothing good comes easy; you must give a good fight and persist on what you want; if you are to really achieve success in the business world. Without persistence, I don’t think you can become a successful businessman.
Seventh Habit: An Eye for Talent
It takes a village to make amazing things happen. That’s why great leaders surround yourselves with other great minds. I was always on the hunt for talent in unique ways, so I could scout potential employees. I personally interviewed applicants during my lifetime, managing all the hiring for my team.
Eighth Habit: Proactive Learners
Entrepreneurship is a life long process and successful entrepreneurs know this. Things change so fast in the business world; you could be an innovation today and become obsolete tomorrow. To stay on course and adapt swiftly to the ever changing trend, successful entrepreneurs keep studying and learning. Highly exceptional business leaders are proactive learners. You know that no man has monopoly of knowledge; you know your cup must never be full so you are always willing to learn at every giving chance. To be a successful leader, you must be willing to expand your context at every giving opportunity. Confucius said: "Wen Chao, Xi Die.” It is the best portrayal of lifelong learning.
Ninth Habit: Creativity
Some decisions will not always be so clear-cut. You may be forced at times to deviate from your set course and make an on the fly decision. This is where your creativity will prove to be vital. It is during these critical situations that your team will look to you for guidance and you may be forced to make a quick decision. As a leader, its important to learn to think outside the box and to choose which of two bad choices is the best option. Don’t immediately choose the first or easiest possibility; sometimes its best to give these issues some thought, and even turn to your team for guidance. By utilizing all possible options before making a rash decision, you can typically reach the end conclusion you were aiming for.
Tenth Habit: You are opportunist
War has been good to me from a financial standpoint but I don’t want to make money that way. I don’t want blood money. This is another trait of successful entrepreneurs. Successful entrepreneurs share a common ability to see opportunities, where others see problems. You know that behind every problem lies an opportunity. Successful entrepreneurs are the drivers of creativity and innovation even in the midst of adversity. The way to make money is to buy when blood is running in the streets.
Eleventh Habit: Ability to take Risk
In today’s rapidly changing world, the people who are not taking risk are the risk takers. Business is a risk and to undertake it, you have to be daring. Successful entrepreneurs are risk takers; you put down your time, energy and resources to make sure your business stand the test of time. You must take risks, both with your own money or with borrowed money. Risk taking is essential to business growth.
